Electrolyte Packs
Most electrolytes are packed as dry powder concentrates in security sealed containers for improved shelf life, ease of storage and cost effective transport. The addition of purified distilled water is all that is required to produce the electrolyte solution.
Electrolyte salts are supplied as packs of 5, sufficient for 250 tests under average usage conditions.
Electrolyte concentrates include:
- CLAC – for Cadmium (Cd), Lead (Pb), Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Manganese (Mn) and Nickel (Ni) applications
- Hg/Cr Electrolyte – for Mercury (Hg) and Chromium (Cr) applications
- As Electrolyte – for ArsenicIII (AsIII) and total Arsenic (As) applications
- Reference Electrolyte – supplied as a liquid. Required for all applications
Calibration Standards
To ensure accurate calibration of Cogent monitoring equipment we supply high quality ‘ reference standards’ . All Cogent Environmental standards are specially prepared in order to ensure that calibration of PDV6000plus can be carried out easily onsite. Each pack of 20 ppm (20mg/L) standards contains sufficient reagent to prepare 1000 individual 100 ppb standard solutions.
The currently available calibration standards are:
- Zn, Cd, Pb as a mixed standard
- Cd, Pb, Cu as a mixed standard
- As, Hg, Cr, Ni, Zn, Cd, Pb, Cu as individual standards
Contact us for additional available reagents and reference standards.
Working Electrode Plating Solutions
Several applications require the carbon working electrode to be plated with a defined thin film of specific metal prior to analysis. Plating solutions are supplied at the appropriate concentrations.
Each pack supplies enough reagent for the preparation of 25 thin films for the following applications:
- Hg Film – for Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn and Mn applications
- Cr Film – for Ni, Fe and Co applications
- Au Film – for Hg and As applications
- Reference Film – required for all applications
Other Reagents
Electrode conditioning solutions and electrolyte diluents are also available for specific testing environments. Please contact us for further information.
On-site, portable heavy metal monitoring
The PDV6000plus is the most sensitive and flexible portable heavy metal monitor for water and soil samples currently available. The system is suitable for a wide range of applications including Drinking water, River water, Wastewater and Soil with detection limits as low as 100 parts per trillion (ppt).
On-site, real-time analysis of water and soil samples can reliably be performed by a technician using the portable PDV. Water samples are analysed directly with only the addition of the electrolyte solution, whilst soil samples require a simple extraction procedure to solubilise any metals into solution. The PDV6000plus provides users with an exceptionally powerful tool for onsite testing. On-site, real time testing enables fast decisions saving valuable time and money by identifying pollution hotspots enabling more efficient, targeted remedial action.
The PDV6000plus consists of a controller handset and analytical cell in a hard, waterproof case. The handset has an integral LCD display and rechargeable battery pack and can therefore operate either as stand-alone instrument or in conjunction into a laptop/PC computer. PDV operates specially configured VAS (voltammetric analysis system) software. VAS is used to provide multiple metal analysis, more sophisticated analytical techniques such as standard addition analysis (to resolve any potential interferences) and blank subtraction. It gives the user a comprehensive display of data that can be manually adjusted if required. VAS also lists sample results for subsequent export into any spreadsheet or data-processing package. It also archives data and allows easy uploading of new analytical methods into the PDV6000plus.
The PDV6000plus provides unrivalled flexibility, accuracy and low operating costs, being suitable for both research-grade determinations or routine field use One set of electrodes lasts for several thousands of measurements. Fast and easy firmware upgrades means the PDV6000plus will always be up to date and able to take advantage of newly developed analytical methods as they become available.
